Meet the Teagartens from the movie Drunk Parents
Frank Teagarten (Alec Baldwin) and Nancy Teagarten (Salma Hayek) are proud parents who just dropped their daughter on her first day of college. They successfully hid their financial problem from which they have been passing through after they made a bad business decision. They used their last money to pay her school fees and they pretended that nothing was going on. They figured out that when she goes to college they will tackle it and overcome it.
When the situation was not getting better Mr and Mrs Teagarten try to use alcohol to hide their frustration and they make a big mistake under the influence of alcohol. While trying to cover up that one mistake and keep their so called "friends" from finding out that they were undergoing financial struggles they make more mistakes.
Their daughter ends up finding out when she wanted to surprised her mum by visiting and planning a surprise birthday party. She was sad that her parents did not trust her enough to inform her and that she was not there to help them. She told them that nothing can make her love them any less. The Teagarten's come out of the financial mess and Mrs Teagarten confesses that she was thankful for her new friends and family.
WHAT YOU CAN LEARN FROM DRUNK PARENTS
1) Love : The love a parent have for their children /child is pure and unquestionable. Mr and Mrs Teagarten did not disclose their financial problem to their daughter because they love her and they did not want to hurt her.
2) Friendship : True friendship is rare. When the Teagarten's were rich they had a group of rich friends who deserted them when they lost all their money. They later made new friends who were better than the ones they had before. If we have a true friend that friend will stand by us no matter what we may be passing through.
3) Relationship : We should learn to value good relationship with others. Good relationship between family members and between friends is important. If the Teagartens did not have a good relationship with each other they would not have been able to overcome the financial problem. Mrs Teagarten establishes this when she says that she is thankful for their new friends and for her family.
Drunk parents may be seen as an offensive comedy to some people but if you look more closely you will see the lessons present in the movie. It was directed by Fred Wolf and released on April 19th 2019. It is rated R for language through out and crude sexual references. It runs for 97 minutes.
