Godmothered

 Godmothered  is a new update on the conventional story of Cinderella. In this scenario, from the viewpoint of a slightly bumbling fairy godmother-in-training named Eleanor, the tale is revealed (Jillian Bell). Glimpses with more humour for adults. Eleanor (Jillian Bell) in GODMOTHERED is a fairy godmother-in-training. She leaves "Motherland" to hunt down a last unfulfilled order from a 10-year-old girl when she learns the training school is in danger of being shut down, and all the godmothers made tooth fairies due to the decrease in a call for their services.

 Eleanor learns, though, that the girl, Mackenzie (Isla Fisher), is now a widowed adult with two daughters, and Eleanor is woefully unprepared to be a truly qualified fairy godmother for both the realities of city life and some of the skills needed. Still, her faith in miracles and happy endings would motivate her to the best of her ability to assist Mackenzie and her daughters. All of them will learn new lessons in the process about life, marriage, and happy endings.

The main lesson in this movie is about true love. The fairy godmothers had a certain expectation for true love but Eleanor realized that people need to discover true love for themselves.

The Stand-In

 The Stand-In is about an actress Candy Black (Drew Barrymore). Candy is an actress in her middle age who is tired of fame and dislikes her job because her passion is not acting it is carpentry. She has anger issues and she is a drunkard. She became violent on set one day and she lost her job. The judge ordered her to go to rehab because she also had issues with her taxes. Finally, 5 years later Candy contacts her stand-in who looks like her Paula (also Drew Barrymore) to go to the rehab in her place. 

Paula had also lost her job with Candy and no one would hire her as an actress. Paula agrees to go the rehab and she does. While she was there she got a request for Candy to do an interview on television but Candy was not willing to make any appearance. so Paula went in her place and they agreed to split the money. It turned out that people loved the new and improved "Candy" not knowing it was an imposter. Paula loved the fame and limelight but Candy was not willing to return to that life. so Paula decided to steal Candy's identity.    

This movie illustrates that money can not buy happiness. True happiness comes from doing what you love. Candy was rich and famous she had lots of fans but she hated her life. She would rather be a carpenter in a small town. It also talks about greed. Paula was greedy and jealous of Candy but when she started living as her she was overwhelmed. Nothing good comes from greed and jealousy. 

SOUL

 Soul is a movie about Joe Gardner (voiced by Jamie Foxx) who loves music and he is expecting to get his big break. Joe is a band teacher at a middle school in New york city. He loves music and he is frustrated that he is tucked as a music teacher so when he gets the opportunity to join a popular musician and her band in performing life he takes the opportunity. Unfortunately, Joe dies and goes to another dimension where souls are prepared before they come to earth. Joe becomes a mentor and he was given a soul called 22 (voiced by Tina Fey) to mentor and help find her passion. Being in that dimension and mentoring 22 helped him to know what it really means to have a soul. 

This is a great movie with a strong life lesson. The lesson in this movie is that in the quest for success, fulfilling dreams or finding our purpose, we should not forget to enjoy every moment of our lives. We all seem to think that achieving something or finding a passion make us accomplished as an individual which is not true. It is great to have a passion and to know your purpose but it can also be harmful when you let that passion consume you and deprive you of seeing the beauty of life. we should learn to appreciate every moment of life and not belittle ourselves because of people who seem to have their lives and purpose figured out.  God did not create us to worry but to lay down all our burdens and worries at his feet. The bible says God takes care of the plants and the birds of the air how much more we that are made in his image and likeness. Hebrews 4 talks about God's rest that is available for believers. We can only enter that rest if we believe in God and all His promises for our lives. So believe God because he is the author and finisher of our lives He knows the best for us and He is in control of everything. It is the most matured Disney or Pixar movie I have seen. That is because the main point of this movie is something that goes through the mind of adults but it has been explained to kids in this animation. It tells the viewers that it is ok not to have everything figured out and I think it is a great message for kids to hear.

My Best Movies of 2020

WOW!!! its the last day of 2020 and the time has come for me to compile the list of my favourite movies of 2020. A lot of movies were created this year and obviously, I did not see all of them but among the ones I saw, here are my top 10 movies of 2020. 

10) Magic Camp

This movie has a great message for teenagers plus its funny.

9) The Kissing Booth 2

Like kissing booth 1,  this one is interesting and entertaining.  The actors were great and brought life to the plot.

8)My Spy

I love this movie because it is a mixture of action and comedy just the way I like my action movies. It also has a strong theme of family and teamwork.

7) Like a Boss

This is a hilarious movie with a message on friendship. It talks about how friends should stick together no matter what.

6) Project Power

I love this movie so much. It's about a father trying to save his daughter from evil scientists. it is action-packed and shows the importance of teamwork.

5)Bad Boys for Life

Although I have not seen the first 2 Bad Boys movie, I loved this one. Like my spy, it is action-filled and so funny. The action scenes were so great.

4)Life In A Year

This is a great romantic movie about two teenagers who fight for love despite all odds. it has a strong message of living life doing what makes you happy.

3) The Old Guard

I love this movie because it is kind of different from other movies. It is about a group of humans who suddenly become immortal. The find each other and thy must stick together to save themselves. 

2) Extraction

wow wow wow ...is all I have to say about this movie. It blew me away. If you know me, you know I love Indian movies. The fact that this movie was set in India sold it for me. It is about an ex-military man who sent to save an Indian drug lord's son from his opponents. The action in this movie is top-notch I commend the production team. if you haven't seen this movie, I highly recommend it.

1) I still Believe

I love movies based on true life events and I love romantic movies. This movie meets those requirements and it is faith-based. I highly highly recommend this movie if you have not seen it.

Life in a year

 This is a romantic movie that lovers of the fault in our stars, I still believe and 5 feet apart will love. It is the story of a young teenage boy  Daryn( Jaden Smith).  All his life has been planned by his father Xavier (Cuba Golding Jr)  who wants him to go to Harvard but Daryn loves to rap and he is pretty good at it. Daryn has always been told what to do by his parents who wants him to have a successful life. Then one night, Daryn has an encounter with a girl Isabelle (Cara Delevingne) and he falls in love with her. They begin to hang out and Daryn finds out that Isabelle is a free-spirited human being who does whatever she wants, doesn't go to school and she has cancer. 

Despite their differences and Isabelle's illness Daryn still loves her so much and with the help of their loved ones he was able to show his love to her. Isabelle tells him she has less than a year to live and he made up his mind to make the best of that year.  Isabelle pushes Daryn to do what he loves and not what his parents want him to do because life is short. 

The points or moral lessons I want to bring out in this movie are love, friendship and children-parent relationship. First, let us talk about love, Daryn loved Isabelle so much that although she had a terminal disease he was willing to risk heartbreak for her even though she tried pushing him away at first. When his father pointed out that Isabelle is so different from him and that she will hinder him from being successful Daryn didn't care he still stayed with her and he even gave up following his father's plan of him going to Harvard. Second, Friendship is strong in this movie. I admire the relationship Daryn has with his two close friends Kiran and Sammy. They helped him a lot in his relationship with Isabelle to the point that they even took turns taking care of her when she was very weak and dying. Lastly talking about parent-children relationship, parents should let their children live their lives and make their own decisions. Xavier had a plan for Daryn's life and has been following it since he was a child. He was so obsessed with making sure Daryn becomes successful in life that he failed to build a  good relationship with his son. 

Overall, I love this movie and I highly recommend it.

A Nashville Christmas Carol

 Every year, there are some Christmas movies involving the spirit of Christmas past, Christmas present and Christmas future. These spirits help people who have lost their Christmas spirit find it again.   A Nashville Christmas is about Vivienne ( Jessy Schram) who has lost her Christmas spirit while trying to make sure everyone else around her have a good Christmas. As a workaholic television producer in charge of a country music Christmas special showing newcomer Alexis (Raelynn), Vivienne, never lets personal feelings get in the way of her career. She receives a visit from the ghost of her recently deceased mentor, Marilyn, on the verge of accepting a job in LA, and with the return of Gavin Chase (Wes Brown), her childhood sweetheart and manager of the special headliner, Belinda (Sara Evans).  Marylin (Wynonna Judd) Her mentor cautions that her chosen path leads to a dark one.

This movie is entertaining and it is ideal for a nice relaxing movie night.  The main lesson in this movie is that people deserve second chances and that we should not put work over friends. Vivienne did not want to give her childhood sweetheart another chance but she learnt that people change so she eventually did. Also, Vivienne was so focused on work and she was seen as controlling even though she had good intentions. So she learnt to focus on things that really matter.

IF ONLY I HAD CHRISTMAS

 

If only I had Christmas Is a Christmas movie from Hallmark Channel.  The story is about Darcy (Candace Cameron Bure) a publicist that works with GUMM Pr a PR firm in Kansas City.  Darcy had to work with Emerald Education Trust and it happens to be her dream job.  Her job was to help  VP Glen Goodman and his team to find the awareness, confidence, and heart to support a Christmas charity in need. Darcy and Glen start to understand that they have it all in common. Glen's unexpected announcement at the big Christmas gala, however, could only put an end to their exciting relationship before it really began. 

This movie is all about spreading Christmas cheer. Darcy a cheerful and free-spirited soul was able to have a positive impact on the people around her and make them know what the true meaning of Christmas is. It is enjoyable and entertaining and I highly recommend it. 

HAPPIEST SEASON

Happiest Season is a movie about a young woman trying to find the courage to live the life that she wants despite having controlling parents who want everything to be picture perfect. This movie provides a strong message about finding the confidence to be yourself, especially in the face of family rejection. The story is about Harper (Mackenzie Davis)  a lesbian who invited her girlfriend  Abby (Kristen Stewart) to her family house for Christmas because Abby was going to be alone. On their way, Harper confesses that she has not told her parents that she was gay so they have to pretend to be roommates. The unwillingness of Harper to come out to those around her starts to put a strain on her relationship with Abby (who vents to both her friend John, played by Daniel Levy, and to Riley). Will Harper be able to conquer her fear and save her relationship? 

This movie talks about the fact that parents should support their children and not try to make them into someone or something they are not. Harper's parents are politicians so they groomed their family to be the perfect family to win elections. This made the children lives unhappy in the long run. Parents should understand the importance of their children's happiness and children should learn to be themselves no matter what.  From Harper's struggle to embrace herself and be genuinely content with who she is, both parents and children will gain. In terms of the movie's themes about accepting their faults and making their children feel welcomed just as they are. 

THE PRINCESS SWITCH: SWITCHED AGAIN

  The Princess Switch: Switched Again is a sequel to The Princess Switch of 2018 and stars Vanessa Hudgens in three different roles playing as royalty in them all. In this movie, Lady Margaret (Vanessa Hudgens) is on the verge of being crowned queen, but she is uncertain of her willingness for the job.  Lady Margaret and Kevin (Nick Sagar) has broken up but they still have feelings for each other. Nick moved back to the U.S and he was not planning on attending the coronation ceremony.  Stacy de Novo (also Vanessa Hudgens) Margaret's friend and lookalike hatches a plan to get Kevin to the ceremony and for the two women to swap places (again as they did in the original Princess Switch film) in order for Margaret to get a day alone with Kevin and decide her true feelings. 

However, the plot becomes challenging when the cousin of Margaret, Fiona (Hudgens again), who also looks just like the other two women, arranges to have Margaret abducted so that she can be crowned queen and steal from the royal bank accounts. Little does Fiona realize that there was a switch again and  Stacy was abducted instead. Is the right queen going to reign and find true love? 

It has meaningful messages about true love and inherited obligations, but the princess theme and the idea that ultimate happiness is by marrying into royalty for an average American may put off some parents. The movie also normalizes life with extreme wealth, although the characters are depicted as ordinary individuals with regular issues of relationship and trust.

Over The Moon

Over the moon is an animation about a young girl and her family. Fei Fei(Cathy Ang) lives with her mother and father and they lived happily selling mooncakes until her mother passed away due to an illness. While her mother was alive, she tells Fei Fei the story of Chang'e  a mortal who took a potion of immortality and she ascended to the moon and became a godess leaving her lover Houyi behind. Chang'e lives lonely on the moon awaiting the return of Houyi.

The first moon festival after her mother's death, her father brings Mrs Zhong (Sandra Oh) and her son Chin(Robert G chiu). Fei Fei learns that her father might be getting married to Mrs Zhong and she is sad. Her extended family came to join them for the moon festival celebration and they begin to talk about Chang'e and they argue if she's real or just a myth. Her father believes that Chang'e is a myth this makes Fei Fei hurt and she feels her father has forgotten all about her mother. She decides to go to the moon and prove that Chang'e is real as this will remind him of her mother and stop him from getting married.. This led her to an adventure and a lesson about acceptance. 

This movie has a theme of acceptance because Fei Fei was still grieving her mother and she didn't want to accept that her father was remarrying. She learnt that it is better to move on from a bad experience than to grieve about it and shut everyone out.  There is also a strong theme of courage and determination in this movie. Fei Fei was courageous enough to embark on a journey to the moon to prove that the godess was real and not a myth. I enjoyed this movie and I highly recommend it.

CLOUDS

 CLOUDS is a 2020  Movie based upon the memoir Fly a Little Higher: How God Answered a Mom's Small Prayer in a Big Way by Laura Sobiech. It tells the story of  Zach Sobiech (Fin Argus  ) who in his young age suffers from Osteosarcoma which is a form of cancer. Zach loves music and he plays the guitar and his best friend Sammy (Sabrina Carpenter) always cheers him and she helps him in his music. At 17, his cancer was declared terminable and his doctors claimed that he might not live to witness his senior prom or graduation. With support from his family and loved ones, Zach decides to spend his last days on earth in happiness doing the things he loves while trying to forget his illness. He and Sammy begin to record the video versions of their songs and Sammy uploads them to youtube. Their teacher Mr Weaver shows their video to BMI a record label in New York and they agree to sign them up. They call themselves "A FIRM HANDSHAKE". After signing the contract, Zach writes a song titled "Clouds"  and they release their first album which was a hit.  Behind the fame, Zach finds love and he struggles with his mortality and the sadness his loved ones are facing due to his illness. 

This heartbreaking true life story has strong themes of compassion and courage.  It is unpredictable by the great performance of the cast and the connection the director Justin Baldoni has with the Sobiech family. He got to know then when he filmed Zach Sobiech in 'MY LAST DAY SERIES". This contributes to the way he structured and told the story in this movie.  The main message in this movie is to live life to the fullest no matter what you might be passing through.  Zach had terminal cancer but he did his best  not let it make him feel depressed. Its a great movie and I highly recommend it.

From the award winning director  Kunle Afolayan comes this movie Citation.  This is  a movie based on true events about how some Nigerian lecturers sexually harass and sometimes even rape their female students while threatening them with carryovers and extra year(s) in the university. This movie is about Moremi (Temi Otedola) a brilliant young female student who because of her intelligence attracted her lecturer Professor Luciene (Jimmy Jean-Louis) who was a highly qualified and respected professor. Moremi thought nothing of his attraction at first until it escalated and became more than she could handle.  

          The story  which shows how in any case,  the part with the highest position of power has the stronger voice is relatable and typical in many community today. This movie has a strong theme of bravery all through. Moremi was brave, determined and courageous even in the face of shame, betrayal and heartbreak she stood and ground and remain unwavering in her fight for justice to prevail. The aim of the director is to encourage people to speak up when they are being treated unjustly especially victims of sexual harassment because rape culture thrives on silence.  I  highly recommend this movie if you haven't already seen it.

THE WITCHES 2020

 

The Witches Is a movie adaptation of Roald Dahl's 1983 childrens book which was first adapted to screenplay in 1990.  The movie begins with a narrator lets call him Hero (Chris Rock) telling the story of how he encountered witches as a little boy.  In 1968 when he was 8 (Jahzir Bruno) he lost his parents in a car accident and he went to live with his grandmother (Octavia Spencer)  in a small town  in Alabama. Unknowingly to them there was a witch living near by and apparently children smell repulsive to witches so she smelt him.  The witch approached him at a local market and asked him if he wants a piece of candy in a very creepy and scary way. He tells his grandmother  who developed a bad cough  about his encounter later that day and she told him that the woman he met was not an ordinary woman but a witch. His grandmother also narrates the story of how when she was little a witch turned her best friend into a chicken. 

She goes further to tell him about the characteristics of witches and tells him that they were gloves because they have claws not hands, wigs and hats because they are bald, and make up to disguise their elongated mouth. Scared that the witch may come after them again his grandmother booked a room in  a fancy hotel because she thinks they would be safe there because witches only prey on the unnoticed.  Not long after arriving at the hotel, Hero finds out that the group of women who are allegedly there for a child-welfare conference are actually witches who are led by their leader The Grand High Witch (Anne Hathaway) who has a plan to turn children into mice with a potion and then kill them. Unfortunately, he could not save himself or his new friend Bruno from the witches and they were turned into mice. So with the help of his grandmother and his pet mice Mary who was also a human child turned mice a few months ago they team up and try to stop the witches from carrying out their evil plan. Do they succeed or are they killed? 

  

This movie is dark but is also a comic-fantasy. This 2020 screen adaptation of the original book is more diverse than previous adaptations.  This movie has themes of courage, teamwork and communication.  However, it is rated PG because of scary images/moments, language and thematic elements. 

A Baby Sitter's Guide to Monster Hunting

 This is an halloween themed movie based on  the book A babysitters guide to monster hunting  the first in a series by Joe Ballarini.  The movie is about a group of babysitters and how they courageously watch over their wards. Kelly (Tamara Smart) is a young teenage high school female who does not have many friends. she was nicknamed monster girl because when she was young she claimed that a monster came into her room and attacked her. On the halloween night of her freshman year of high school, she planned to attend a party hosted by one of the seniors but her mum booked a baby sitting job for her. so instead of partying, Kelly agreed to baby sit Jacob (Ian Ho). 

      Jacob usually has a hard time falling asleep because of nightmares and he had another one but this time his nightmares came to life and he was kidnapped by some monsters known as Toadies and their master the boogeyman (Tom Felton) who was called The Grand Guignol  who happens to be the same monster  that attacked Kelly when she was young. Kelly was so scared  and confused luckily for her and Jacob, Liz (Oona Laurence)  came to her aid.  Liz was a baby sitter and part of a secret  international society of baby sitters that specializes in protecting kids from monsters.  They go to the lair of the babysitters society and device a plan to save young Jacob before his mother comes back by midnight. 

The main theme in this movie is Courage. courage is seen among the babysitters who would go to any length to save their wards. Jacob also shows bravery for someone his age, with his character this movie teaches young children about courage in a way that they can relate with. There is also a little bit of teamwork because the other babysitters had to work as a team to help Kelly and Liz save Jacob.I enjoyed this movie and I recommend it however i think that children should watch it with adult supervision as they may find it scary.

Secret Society of Second Born Royals

Some people are born into power and have the ability to make change while others have to deliberately put in effort to make a change in their society. No matter who you are you can make a change if you are determined and patient. In this movie, Samantha (Peyton Elizabeth Lee)  is  a princess of Illyria but she hates monarchy and she rebels against her mother the Queen of Illyria and often argues with her elder sister Eleanor who is about to be crowned Queen. Sam feel the people of Illyria are suffering and their cries are not heard so she and her best friend Mike started a band that sings songs telling the people to stand up for themselves and challenge the authority. 

                  So after an incident at a party, Sam was sent to summer school by her mother. It turns out that "summer school" was not really summer school but it was a training school for Second born royals to join The Secret Society Of Second Born Royals. Sam and  4 other teenagers who are all second born in a royal family have super powers which is common among all second born royals because of a  special gene.  The 5 teens have to discover their powers and learn how to manage and control it. When the training was almost completed, a dangerous criminal named Edmund escaped from prison with the plan to destroy all first born royals at  Eleanor's coronation.  Sam does not like monarchy but she does not believe killing all first born royals is the answer so with the help of her fellow trainees ( apart from 1 who happens to be working with the criminal) work together to stop Edmund from killing the first born royals.

This movie has a lot of messages in this movie which includes teamwork,  caring about other people, finding strength in your insecurities and caring less about social media. I recommend this movie to teens and young adults because it is relatable to them.

The Spy Who Dumped Me

     
 

The Spy Who Dumped Me is a great movie about determination, friendship  and courage. The story is about two best friends from Los Angeles Audrey (Mila Kunis) and Morgan (Kate McKinnon). Audrey just celebrated her birthday but she feels that she has not really accomplished anything in life. She underestimates herself and she does not push herself to see things through. Drew(Justin Theroux)  Her boyfriend who unknowingly to her was a spy dumped her in a text message and he did not reply any of her text messages or call her suddenly calls her after she threatens to burn his things that he left at her house.

        

Drew promises to see her the next day which he does but some goons trace him to Audrey's house and open bullet on the house. Morgan's guest unknowingly to them also wants the package and he shoots Drew but before he causes further havoc Morgan pushes him off the balcony. Before Drew died he asked Audrey to deliver a package to someone in Austria the following day. Audrey sees herself as a quitter, she quit law school so she was determined to complete the task of delivering this package that cost Drew his life and put hers and Morgan's in danger. So together Audrey and Morgan fly to  Austria to deliver the package. Were they successful or did they fail to accomplish a goal?   Watch movie to find out.

            This movie talks about friendship. We see a strong bond of friendship between Audrey and Morgan. the two are very close and they know everything about each other. They are there for each other during the good and bad times. This also make them able to work together as a team which was very helpful  in the situation they found themselves in.  Also, we see the determination and courage. Audrey was determined to finish Drew's task and perhaps if she was determined she would have finished law school. Overall, i rate is movie a 8.5 out of 10 and I highly recommend it.

A Rainy Day In New York

In relationships, people sometimes settle for less than they deserve. They tolerate their partners flaws and this may lead to a  miserable life in the long run if something is not done about it. In this movie, Gatsby (Timothee Chalamet) and his girlfriend Ashleigh (Elle Fanning) embark on a weekend trip to New York  when Ashleigh who is a reporter in their  school paper was given an assignment to interview a renowned  movie director Roland Pollard (Liev Schreiber) . They planned to have a romantic trip as Ashleigh's interview was only meant for 1 hour.  Unfortunately,Ashleigh finds out that there is more to her story and she spends the trip chasing a scoop.  Gatsby felt unloved and unimportant and  finally he decided that he was no longer going to tolerate being taking for granted by Ashleigh and he walked out of the relationship. 

  

Love Guaranteed

 

When Mike Evans tries online dating on the app LOVE GUARANTEED,  he thought he would find love but after being on almost a 1000 dates he still hasn't found love. So Mike decides to sue Love Guaranteed and he hires Susan Whitaker who works in  cheap cases or even for clients who can't  afford to pay. Susan loves her job but her bill's are pilling  up so when Mike came offering to pay her well for the case she took the case eventhough she thought that Mike was a "loophole shark" looking for ways to make quick money. 

    After  meeting with few of his dates she came to the conclusion that Mike was not a loophole shark and  he was a perfect gentleman to all his dates. Mike who is a Physical Therapist actually wants to donate the money he makes from the case to help children who can't pay for physical therapy.  This made Susan more sympathetic towards Mike and she was determined to win the case but they end up winning something bigger than they ever imagined.

Switched

Switched is a great movie that reminds me of Freaky Friday. Cassandra Evans (Miya Horcher) a high schooler was a victim of bullies. She hated her life and she longed to be someone else specifically Katie Sharp (Madeline Byrne) the most popular girl in their school who was  a bully. One night after Cassandra was bullied in school by Katie she prayed to God that Katie should experience how it feels to be her. Cassandra got her wish as the two girls swith bodies and wake up as each other the next day. Now they have to work together to find a solution. 

           Switched  speaks against bullying. It teaches the viewers that bullying is not the right thing to do.  It uses Biblical views and principles  to let viewers know that God wants us to show love to ourselves and to others . This movie also talks about jealousy and covetousness. Sometimes we may envy others and even wish to be them. This movie is a wake up call for us to be contented with our lives no matter how boring we feel it is. We should know that we are all unique and special in our own ways. We should not belittle ourselves.  

              Furthermore, we should try not to judge others because we don't know what they are going through.  Like the popular saying goes "walk a mile in my shoes then you can tell me what to do"   we should be kind to those around us because they might be going through a tough time and our kind action might just help to put a smile on their face . We should always be kind even to those who hurt us.  We should endeavour to be good friends, brothers ,sisters, daughters,  sons and parents.  

           Lastly, we should develop a high-self esteem. Due to bullying, Cassandra had low self esteem and she could not stand up for herself and face her bullies.  We should value ourselves because if  we do so, others will sense it and value you also  Cassandra was a great singer and guitar player but because she felt worthless and had low self esteem she lacked courage so she never played in public. But when she discovered her value and worth she was able to sing in front of people and ace her audition into the prestigious Julliard. 

       Overall I loved this movie and I rate it a 10/10. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Mulan 2020

 

This is a live-action version of Disney's 1988 MULAN.  It is not totally  identical to the animation as some parts have been omitted while few new parts have been included but the storyline is the same. If you loved the cartoon version you will love this live -action remake.

              The story is about Hua Mulan (Yifei Liu)  who from a very young age has shown a strong chi/warrior spirit that are usually found in amales. This caused her to behave and act like a boy. Her parents in order to prevent Mulan  from bringing shame and dishonour to their family advices her to hide her chi and to stop acting like a boy. 

 

    Now an adult, Mulan fails in her match making session which was supposed to give her a honourable life ahead and she feels that she has brought shame to her family. On their way back home, the Imperial Army Scouts ride to their village and announces that the king has given an order that each family must present a Male representative to be trained for the battle against the Rouran Huns who are being led by Böri Khan (Jason Scott Lee) and a warrior witch named Xiannninang (Gong Li).  Mulan's father Zhou (Tzi Ma) having no sons and happens to be a wounded war hero volunteers to go for his family.

       Mulan in order to save her father and preserve her family's honour ran away  from home at night with her father's armour and her family sword. She pretends to be a man  and joins the regiment train to save the kingdom from invaders . It was not easy hiding her true identity  especially because one major virtues of a imperial warrior is honesty.  But eventually she saved the Emperor and brought honour to her family. 

     Some lessons in this movie are courage , perseverance , teamwork and devotion to family.
