Sometimes, life may get very hard and difficult for people. Some may be able to overcome the difficult times and get their lives back while others may accept defeat and give up on life.
The Way Back is about Jack Cunningham (Ben Afleck). While growing up, Jack was a great basketball player for his high school. He had a great life and opportunities were lined up for him to make his life better. He had a bright future and everyone had high expectations for him. His world as he knew it came to an end when he lost his son due to a terminal illness. He did not handle the loss of his son well which made his wife to leave him. He cut everyone off from his life both his friends and family and he was hurting in silence.
Jack turned to alcohol and drugs to hide his sorrows and eventually he became an alcoholic drinking almost everytime. He sneaks alcohol to work inside cups and flasks to make it look like water or coffee, he drinks in the shower, he drinks and drive and he spends his evenings/nights in a bar and he has to be carried home by his fathers old friend. Jack's old high school needed a basketball coach and Jack was picked for the job. He sees this new job as an opportunity to heal himself and make his life better.
This movie is about trying to move forward after life's painful blow. It will be relatable to parents especially fathers. It is not suitable for kids as there is a lot of cursing in this movie. If Jack believed in God he would have handled the death of his son better. God can see us through any difficulty that may come our way in life. He is always there for us. God knows everything we are passing through and he won't allow you to pass through a situation that you can not overcome. Just accept Jesus as your Lord and saviour and watch him take care of you.
