Swiped

In this recent generation, most youngsters are almost always on their mobile devices or laptops. This has reduced the rate of socialization between people. The rate at which we interact has reduced probably because everyone is online and there is an app for almost anything. This comedy shows how young girls are desperate for guys attention and will do anything even agree to a hookup just to get noticed by guys.

Swiped is about James Singer (Kendall Ryan Sanders) who is a smart college freshman. His family members are worried about him because he is shy and always on his phone or computer so he has no friends. When his mom and sister dropped him off for his first semester they encouraged him to socialize with people and make new friends in college. James's roommate turns out to be the most popular student in the department,  Lance Black (Noah Centineo).  Lance is a play boy who just wants girls without any attachment or commitment. His ideal girl will just hookup with him without spending the night, asking for his name or anticipate a second meeting. He and his group of friends thought of an idea to come up with a dating app that will make this possible.
They discovered that James was so good and coding and creating apps so they ask him to make the app offering an opportunity that is difficult for him to say no to which is the chance to study at the Massechusets Institute of Technology (MIT). James creates the app and named it jungle and everyone seemed to like it at first but after a while the guys started taking girls on this app for granted and hurting their feelings and he realized it was a bad idea.He decides to make things right and shut down the apps.  Does he succeed? Watch the movie to find out.

This movie satirises lustful makes who just want to use girls and also ladies who fall for them because they do not know their value and self worth. There is no form of sexual activity in the movie but it appears to be on the mind of almost everyone. Pictures of ladies in their underwear are shown and uploaded online. Foul languages and some swearing occur in few scenes. A character commits briefly while another one farts loudly. Adults drink in several scenes as well as college age individuals.

In my opinion,  the movie succeed in passing its message of self value, self love , the importance of a good relationship and the dangers of rushing into a romantic relationship  . I recommend this movie to young adults especially the females. It was released on November 6,2018 and it runs for 93 minutes.  It was directed by Ann Deborah Fishman and it is not rated.

Otherhood

Parents try to bring up their children in the best way they can. They shower them with love and try their best to make them love a comfortable and happy life. But sometimes when children grow up and become independent, parents are often neglected which make them feel as if they failed as parents. Otherhood is a story of three friends Helen (Felicity Huffman), Gillian (Patricia Arquette) and Carol (Angela Basset) who felt abandoned by their grown up sons.
Helen, Carol and Gillian have been friends for long. They met when their sons were still very young and as their children became friends, they also formed a strong bond of friendship with each other.

The movie begins in a town called Poughkeepsie when the three women gather together for the celebration of mother's day which they spend together every year. They find comfort in each other because their sons have moved to New York city and hardly gets in touch with them. Their sons forget mothers day every year so the women spend it together but this year, the mothers get drunk and make a spontaneous decision to travel down to New York city to spend some time with their sons. The journey leads to the three women discovering new things about themselves and about their children.

This movie according to www.rottentomatoes.com is a "soulful, hilarious, and honest exploration of life after motherhood". It is based on a novel  called whatever makes you happy  by William Sutcliffe. This movie talks about issues like middle-age anxiety,  parent-adult children  and Infedility. Expect few offensive languages in this movie.  There is a scene of a man and a  woman kissing and trying to undress but they are stopped in a funny way but the man's backside was shown briefly and he found out that the lady was underage. A gay relationship is shown. Characters drink alcohol which leads to arguments, drunkenness and intoxication.

Overall, the message this movie is trying to portray is life after parenthood. As children mature and grow parents needs to change their life and live for themselves. The three mothers realized that their sons were adults and that they had to redefine their relationships with their sons, their spouses, their friends and most especially themselves. The otherhood was directed by Cindy Chupack. Written by Mark Andrus and Cundy Chupack. It was released on August 2nd, 2019 and it runs for 120 minutes. It is rated R for language, sexual references and brief nudity.

The Hustle

The Hustle is a gender-flipped version of the movie Dirty Rotten Scoundrels  a 1988 comedy where two con men dupe people which was also a remake of the 1964 movie Bedtime. The Hustle is sure to make you laugh and relax.

It begins with Penny Rust (Rebel Wilson) who is a con-artist in America. She leaves for a town in France called Beaumont-Sur-Mer because she feels that she would make more money there. On her way, she runs into Josephine Chesterfield (Anne Hathaway) who is also a con-artist but she uses a more classy method and it seemed to have paid off because she is more successful that Penny. When Josephine discovers that Penny is a con-artist she tries to lure her out of Beaumont-Sur-Mer because she sees it as her territory and she does not want Penny to ruin it. However, Penny stayed back and asks Josephine to teach her how to execute high class con. Josephine agrees but with another plan in mind. She trains Pen y and uses her in her schemes but she refuses to pay her. They quarreld and in order to settle it , they made a bet that whomever can extort $500,000 from a young naive internet tycoon Thomas Westerburg (Alex Sharp) will have the whole of Beaumont-Sur-Mer. Who will succeed and remain in the town??

The Hustle does not meet the expectations of the viewers especially those who have seen Dirty Rotten Scoundrels probably because they expect a complete remake of the movie but this version is more silly. This movie is a comic fantasy of women who use charm and scheme to dupe men. Previously,  con artists in movies have always been played by men except in  a few occasions.  This movie portrays the idea that women succeed ad fraudsters because men do not want to agree that women are as smart at them and even smarter. It also silently implies men's sexual vanity that makes them vulnerable to being manipulated by women.

There are some new jokes which where not in the previous versions. The funniest scenes are when Penny insults Josephine and also when she does something crazy. It was directed by Chris Addison and was released worldwide on May 10th, 2019. It runs for 93 minutes and is rated PG-13 for crude sexual content and language.

The Sun is Also A Star

Are you a fan of romantic movies?  Did you enjoy THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, THE KISSING BOOTH and EVERYTHING  EVERYTHING?  If yes, this movie suits you well . From the author of EVERYTHING EVERYTHING  comes THE STAR IS ALSO A SUN. This movie is based on the best selling novel THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR by Nicola Yoon. It is the epic love story of two teenage immigrants living in America they are Natasha Kingsley (Yara Shahidi, Zoe from blackish) and Daniel Bae (Charles Melton) an american based Korean.
The movie begins when The Kingsleys are about to be deported from the U.S back to Jamaica. Natasha sees New York as her home and she does not want to her family to leave. Her parents have tried their best to stop them from being deported but it did not work. Natasha takes it upon herself to find a way for them to remain in America. A day to when they were about to leave , Natasha goes to the immigration office to see if their case was still opened but she was told that it could  not. She was given the number of a lawyer who works pro-bono and handles immigration cases similar to hers. She called the number and spoke with  secretary who scheduled her for a meeting later that day.

Meanwhile, on the same day Daniel had to go for an interview that would enable him to study medicine in a prestigious university.  Daniel believes in fate and that everything that happens has a meaning and reason. At the train station on his way to the interview he sees Natasha from far wearing a jacket with the same inscription her wrote in his journal earlier that day. He tries to catch up with her but he lost her. He was certain they would meet again which they did later when he sights her on a train. He follows her after she comes down till she got out of the station to the main road. Unknowingly to Natasha, a speeding car was heading her way. Daniel sees it after it runs over a biker and d he runs towards Natasha to stop her from being hit by the car. Natasha was grateful to Daniel for saving her life . She was unhurt but Daniel insisted that he stays with her just to make sure she is fine. Together they spend a blissful 24 hours together and Daniel tries to make Natasha fall in love with him. Did he succeed? Did her family remain in the U.S?  I'm tempted to say more but no I will not.

This movie is a story about love that survives against all odds. It is a beautiful movie with a perfect ending . At first I was scared that it was not going to end well but the writer was so skilfull and did not disappoint me.  This movie was directed by Russo Young and written by Tracy Oliver.  It was released on May 17, 2019 and runs for 100 minutes.  It is rated PG 13 for som suggestive content and language. Rome in Love movie review.

Its summer and to mark this season, Hallmark channel has a series of original romantic summer movies lined up for their viewers. They named the series Summer Night Series. The first movie aired on Saturday July 27th 2019 and it is titled Rome In Love. This movie is based on the book Rome In Love by Anita Hughes. They are both about an  unknown or undiscovered actress with great talent playing the role of Princess Audrey in  a remake of the old movie Roman Holiday. Although the making of the movie was not shown, the selection and preparation of the main characters was shown.  Fun fact, the movie was actually shot in Rome which was a "wonderful experience for the cast" according to madison.com  and Italia Ricci was actually pregnant at the time this movie was filmed.

The movie began with the main character i.e the undiscovered actress Amelia Tate ( Italia Ricci) being notified by her sister Kathrine (Isabelle Connolly) of the ongoing audition for the role of Princess Audrey in a remake of the old movie Roman Holiday.  Kathrine encouraged Amelia to audition for the  role because she was a great actress.  Amelia auditioned and after a while she was picked for the role and she had to leave her home in Oregon for   Rome where the filming of the movie will take place. When she got there the director dominic (Ross McCall) told her that he wants her to remain anonymous until a press conference  that he scheduled to talk about the movie . The only journalist that she was allowed to talk to is Philip (Peter Porte) an American like her working for a Roman  magazine. Philip was given the duty to write an expose on Amelia in order to introduce her to the world and it was exclusive to his magazine. In the cause of the interview which took place over a period of days,  they became close although Amelia was unwilling to open up at first because she want to protect her family from the public and the press.

In my opinion,  this movie is just trying to recognize those who give up a lot to take care of their family.  Amelia is orphaned so she is left with the responsibility of taking care of her younger sister Kathrine. She sacrificed her acting career and a chance to study acting in London so that she would be there for her sister.  Kathrine appreciates Amelia a lot that is why she encouraged her to continue with her acting career which she really loves. Kathrine wanted Amelia to enjoy her life and to have a break from taking care of her.

Stay tuned to mztee for the review of the next movie in this series.  LOVE AND SUNSHINE coming out on the 4th of August. If you have Hallmark channel watch the movies and comment the one you love most.

Little the movie

Little is about a lady that transforms back into her 13 year old self in order to learn some important life lessons.  The movie begins with a back story of Jordan Sanders as a little girl (Marsai Martin from Blackish)  being bullied in middle school. Her parents tried to cheer her up by saying that the bullying will stop when she gets older because she is smart and no one bullies smart people.  Jordan misunderstood this and thinks that being an adult makes you free to bully and she made her mind to bully people first before they have a chanyto bully her.
All grown up,  Jordan (Regina Hall)  owns a successful firm and is rich but she is extremely demanding and makes her employees miserable especially her assistant April (Issa Rae) . One day when big Jordan (Regina Hall)  was being her usual mean self,  a teenage girl wishes that Jordan becomes little so that she will stop bullying people. And Jordan wakes up as her 13 years old self  the next morning.  Confused and frightened,  she calls her assistant April to figure out what happened and find a solution. They come to a conclusion that she needs to learn something from her 13 years old self  before she can become an adult again.  Does she return to her old self or does she continue life as a 13 years old.

This movie is a switch on the movie BIG where a teenager turns to an adult.  Although it is not advisable for kids to watch a fellow kid treat others badly, adult viewers will find it e5ntertaining especially if they lived freaky Friday and Big.  The movie was intended to show audience the importance of being true to oneself . In my opinion, this movie is trying to inform us that we are still connected with our childhood and some things we do may be based off somethings we went through as a child. Kids might no  get all these from the movie instead they may feel that being a bully Pays off because it seems as if Jordan became rich as successful because of her bad attitude while her assistant who is nice and kind was an assistant despite her efforts to get a promotion. Although a comedy, Little can pass mixed messages to the audience and the comic relief in it is when Jordan does something unbelievable either as a teen or an adult.  The movie contains a lot of scenes of people being treated as dirt or slaves. A teen tries to drink and she even drives . There are few sexual advances.  Strong language is implied and not spoken out but mild language like damn, crap and hell are used. It was directed by Tina Gordon Chism and was released on April 12,2019. It runs for 108 minutes and is rated PG-13  for some suggestive content.

Plus one

Plus one is a romantic comedy about two friends who are meant to be together but they keep on looking for love elsewhere.  Ben (Jack Quaid)  and Alice (Maya Erskine) have been friends since college and they both wanted to find love desperately. Alice ends up brokenhearted because her ex cheated on her meanwhile,  Ben is too scared to allow any of his relationships last  long claiming that he does not want to make the same mistake his divorced parents made.  Everyone around them seemed to be getting married even Ben's dad and Alice's sister and they did not want to go alone so they agree to be each others date to the weddings that they had to attend to avoid questions and prospective hookups.
In the process of them going to weddings together, they realize that they have feelings for each other and their chemistry is noticeable by people around them. Will they give their love a chance or will they ignore it and move on??
The cast did a great job although most of the scenes happen at the ten weddings Ben and Alice attend but the weddings are separated. I recommend this movie to you if you love romance or comedy and fans of romcom will love this because it puts a twist in the cliche form of romantic comedy.  It was directed and produced by bot Jeff Chan and Andrew Rhymer.  It was released on June 14th 2019 and it runs for 99 minutes. It is not rated at this moment.

The princess switch

The princess switch is a Christmas themed movie that came out last year. I know I'm late but I think my opinion  still needs to be heard.  It is similar to The Prince and the pauper and a Roman holiday which are two movies where royalties exchange places with commoners in order to experience life as a regular person.  It is a  fun movie  for families to watch and it is very entertaining.  This movie shows that we are not defined by the titles we have but by our characters.
The princess switch is about two people who are very identical although,  they didn't know each other until they met.  One is Stacy, a baker from Chicago and the other is Margaret the duchess of Montenaro ( both roles are played by Vanessa Hudgens from high school musical).  The movie begins by showing stacy who just went through a breakup trying to get over it.  In order to do so,  she goes for a baking competition in Belgravia which Kevin (Nick Sagar)  her best friend and his daughter Olivia  secretly signed her up for.
They all went to Belgravia for the contest because Kevin was also her assistant  and not long after they got there,  Stacy accidentally runs into Margaret her exact replica.  The duchess who was orphan saw this as an opportunity to take a break from planning her wedding to the prince of Belgravia Prince Edward  ( Sam Palladio) whom she did not love but she is marrying him because she wants the best for her people.  The duchess suggests to Stacy that they switch lives just for two days and switch back the night before the baking competition. Stacy sees this as a way to pamper herself and forget about her ex besides,  the duchess told her that the prince will not be around for those two days and all she has to do was have dinner with the king and queen so she agrees. Stacy learns to act as Margaret and Stacy teaches Margaret how to act like her under few hours.

They both swap places and things would have gone well but Prince Edward decided to forfeit his trip in order to spend time with his bride to be ( now Stacy) .At the end of the two day swap Stacy was in love with the prince  just as Margaret was in love with Kevin. Will they ignore their feeling or will they give their love a chance?
What is so special about The Princess Switch.
1) It talks about hope.  Stacy and Margaret lost hope that they could ever find love again but they received a gift they did not expect that Christmas. The gift of love.

2) We are more than our titles. Stacy did not just want to title of a princess or a duchess but she really wanted to have a positive impact on the lives of people around her.

3) This movie portrays Christmas as not just a season to share gifts but a period to show love to those around us especially the less fortunate.

The princess switch has a lot of predictable moments but it is still interesting and princess lovers of all ages will not mind that and also viewers can settle for enjoying it for it's romance and holiday spirit. Characters kiss in a few scenes and there is rivalry during the baking competition but other than that this movie is harmless.  No use of violence or bad words through out. It was directed by Mike Rohl and released on November 16, 2018. It runs for 101 minutes and is not rated

The Hustle

The Hustle is a gender-flipped version of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels a 1988 comedy where two men con people which was a remake of Bedtime Story which was released in 1964. This movie is sure to make you laugh and it is relaxing.

It begins with Penny Rust (Rebel Wilson) who is a con-artist in America leaves for France  because she feels that she would make more money there. In the train on her way to Beaumont-Sur-Mer (a beautiful town in France) she meets Josephine Chesterfield (Anne Hathaway) who is also a con-artist but she is more classy in her schemes and it seems to pay off because she lives in a huge villa. Josephine tries to lure penny away because she sees Beaumont-Sur-mer as her territory and dies not want Penny to ruin it for her but Penny stays back and asks Josephine to train her on how to execute high-class con that pays more. Josephine agrees but with another plan in mind.  She trains and uses Penny for her schemes but refuses to pay her. So they make a bet which states that  whomever can extort $500,000 from a young native internet tycoon Thomas Westerburg (Alex Sharp) will remain I  Beaumont-Sur-Mer.  Who will succeed and who will leave??

The Hustle does not meet the expectations o  the viewers  most especially those who have seen Dirty Rotten Scoundrels probably because this is a more silly and less serious one .This movie is a comic  fantasy of women using charm and scheme to dupe insisting men. The Hustle portrays the idea that women succeed as fraudsters because men do not want to believe that women can be smarter than them therefore, this movie also silently implies men's sexual vanity that makes them vulnerable to being manipulated by women. Previously, con artists in movies have been played by me  except in a few occasions.

The old plot is twisted a bit when Penny and Josephine struggle for Thomas. The full nicest moments are between Penny and Josephine. It was directed by Chris Addison and was released worldwide on May 10th, 2019. It runs for 93 minutes and is rated PG 14 for crude sexual content and language.

I Am Mother

Nowadays, people are being replaced at their jobs by computers or machines and this has caused a lot worry among individuals.  Well what if that's just the beginning?  How much more disturbing will  the idea of robots taking over family roles be?  I've always heard of aliens taking over earth but robots too may be likely to cause the extinction of humans.
I am Mother leaves the viewers anxious or even angry at the physchological harm that the main character Daughter a teenage girl ( played by Clara Ruggard) passed through while being brought up by a robot called Mother voiced by Rose Byrne. The fact that the harmful robot appears to be loving by talking and behaving like a human maternal figure makes one perturbed.
The movie starts in a repopulation facility after what is referred to as an extinction event has taken place.  A notice shows that there are no humans present but only 36.000 human embryos. The robot developes a female embryo for 24 hours in a womb like structure. The baby is brought up by the robot in the well equipped state of the art facility. She is referred to as Daughter and the robot is referred to as Mother. When she grew up to become a teenager the robot informed her that she is the only human alive and that the world outside the facility is harmful to her.  Daughter so desperately wanted to experience live outside the facility but the robot won't allow her.
One day, daughter hears a woman moaning out of pain at their door and she sneaks her in without Mother knowing.  The lady was injured and told Daughter that a group of robots are harming humans and also that she was with a group of other survivors but she lost them. The entry of the woman (Hillary Swank)  opens Daughter to a new perspective of thinking and she starts to question the truthfulness of Mother. She is faced with the responsibility of saving the embryos which she considered as her brothers and sisters in order to repopulate the earth with humans.
What's so special about I Am Mother.
The importance of family was Portrayed in this movie by Daughter.  She considered the embryos and the robot as her family and she did all she could to save the embryos.  Unlike the injured woman who shows the built in the nature of humans to value themselves over others. The woman valued her life so much and did not care enough to go back and help daughter save the embryos even though daughter saves her life.
You will love this movie If you like sci-fi and movies with robots but I advise you not to watch this movie if you are emotional because you might be sad or angry.  It was directed by Grant Sputore and released on June 7th 2019. It runs for 113 minutes and is rated PG 13.

Always be my maybe

Are you always scared to try new things and leave your comfort zone like Marcus?  Marcus did not want to take risks and come out of his comfort zone but with the help of his father and Sasha he realized the importance of moving forward in life. This movie is not like your regular romantic comedy it conveys a powerful message.
Always be my maybe is about two asian-americansMarcus and Sasha they lived next door to each other in San-Fransisco and were best friends. They lost contact with each other when they were 18 because of an awkward sexual encounter. They meet 16 years later when Sasha who is now a celebrity chef comes back to San-Francisco to open a new restaurant. She discovered that Marcus works and lives with his father and he still plays with the same band and in the same venue he played in when they were young.
They realized that they still had feelings for each other but their values and lifestyle are total opposite. Sasha lives a big rich and famous life while Marcus is content living with his dad in their small neighborhood. They often find themselves arguing about different things but the feelings they have for each other is noticeable by people around them. Can they put their differences aside and realize that they are made for each other?
What is so special about this movie  you may ask.
1) Motivation : After I saw this movie I was motivated because I am like Marcus who likes to stay in his comfort zone and not p she himself to do great things with his life unlike Sasha.  I am happy that at the end of this movie Marcus saw the need to make a change in his life for good.
2) The power of integrity was portrayed in this movie. Marcus told Sasha that having money and fame had changed her for the worse and she needs to become  her old self again.  Marcus adviced her that she should be true to herself no matter what.

Always be my maybe stars cast from Fresh Off The Boat which are Alive Wong (Sasha) and Randall Park (Marcus).  It was also directed by the director of Fresh Off The Boat Nahnatchka Khan.  It contains minimal stereotyping.  Offensive languages are used.  The characters drinking and a main character is seen smoking Weed in numerous scenes.  There are brief sex scenes. It was released on May 31st and it runs for 101 minutes.  It is rated PG-13 for sexual content, drug use/references  and language.

Tyler Perry's A Madea Family Funeral

What will you do if you know a secret  that will tear your family  apart? This movie talks about the importance of family. Madea in this movie does her best to keep everyone 8n check when a scandalous secret threatened to tear he family.
In this movie,  Madea and her group of friends (Bam,  Hattie and her brother Joe)   with Brian driving them planned  to go for the 40th wedding anniversary of her brother Anthony and his wife Vianne .  On arriving at their hotel,  they find him dying in an hotel room with a concubine Renee who happens to be a family friend. At Anthony's side was AJ his son who was at the hotel cheating on his wife Carol  with  his  brother's fiancee Gia. They take Anthony to the hospital and AJ went home to the rest of his family what happened.  They all rush to the hospital and the doctor told them  Anthony was dead.

Madea tried to prevent Joe,  Bam and Hattie who knew the cause of Anthony's death from telling his grieving family. Vianne laves Madea in charge of planning the funeral which was in two days time.  Renee kept coming to the family house to help them  which made AJ upset and the others thought he was acting weird because they didn't understand why he was angry.  At the end of the funeral,  AJ could not stand Renee again and he told everyone that he caught her and his father in a hotel and  that's what caused his death.  Renee in turn tells everyone that AJ was in the hotel sleeping with his brother's fiancee.  AJ's brother got angry and sent his fiancee out while Vianne admits that Anthony had been cheating since but she ignored it but now he is dead she was going to live for herself and enjoy life. At the end AJ's wife left him and Vianne goes on vacation with another man.

       What's Great about This Movie.

In this movie,  you will see how a woman (Vianne)  even with her cheating husband still struggled to keep her family together for the sake of her children.  Also another woman (Carol,  AJ's wife)  walked out of the marriage because he was cheating. She told him that she will not stand and watch him disrespect her and she offered to come back if he changes.

This movie is supposedly the last of the Madea series by Tyler Perry.  Like the other Madea movies this one will make you laugh a lot especially in the scenes that made tries to quote the Bible.  Overall,  I would say this movie did a great job at passing a sensitive message in a funny way.  There are a lot of crude jokes and vulgar languages because any movie that has Madea in it will have offensive languages. It was produced and directed by Tyler Perry and was released on March 1st 2019.  It is rated PG13 for crude sexual content, language and drugs.  It runs for 102 minutes.

Aladdin

The story of Aladdin  is well known because of the popularity of the cartoon and this movie is the reaction of the cartoon.  Aladdin (Mena Massoud)  is a young orphan boy that lives on the streets in the town of Agrabah and he is know for his mischievous acts. One  day he meets the princess (Naomi Scott)  who disguises herself as a maid and he falls in love with her. While trying to leave the palace without been found he met Jafar (Marwan Kenzari)  an adviser to the king but he had bad intentions unknowingly to the people of Agrabah. Jafar told Aladdin that who he came to meet was the princess and he will have him arrested unless he gets a lamp from the Cave of Wonders.
Aladdin went there and he was given an instruction not to take anything else but the lamp. He got the lamp but as he was about to leave his monkey, Abu picked up a jewel and this made the cave to collapse. Instead of Jafar to help Aladdin he collected the lamp from him and left him to die but Aladdin survived with the help of a magic flying carpet and gets the lamp back and unlocks the power of the lamp releasing a Genie (Will Smith) .

The genie explained to Aladdin that he has three wishes and  Aladdin wished them out  of the cave. While they were out, he and the genie become very good friends and he told the genie about Princess Jasmine and the genie granted him his wish of becoming a prince (Prince Ali of Ababua) so that he would be able to marry the princess.  Jafar recognises him as Aladdin and in order to prevent him from winning the heart of the Princess and the Sultan he attacked them. He got the lamp back and used it to cause harm but Aladdin with help from Abu,  the magic carpet and the genie defeats Jafar and he ends up freeing the genie and marryi6the princess.
     What's so Special about Aladdin?
When I watched this movie,  the things that stood out to me includes
1: The friendship between Aladdin and the genie.  Although I have seen the cartoon I was still surprised by their friendship.
2: Honesty and Integrity : The importance of integrity was shown in this movie through Aladdin.  He thought he could get the princess by pretending but he learnt that pretending does not take one anywhere.
This movie beats the expectations of the viewers.  The cast were great and they  played their role perfectly. The songs which were also present in the original cartoon were performed so well and the new original song "speechless" by Princess Jasmine adds a bit of female empowerment.  The movie was released on May 24th 2019 and was directed by Guy Ritchie.  It runs for 128 minutes and is rated PG for some peril and action.

Shazam movie review

Shazam is DC's comic based super hero comedy.  It illustrates  the power of teamwork and importance of family. It is about a 14 year old foster kid named Billy Batson (Asher Angel). He gets into trouble in all the foster homes he was placed in and he was given a last chance and placed with a new large diverse family with foster kids of different races.
He and his new foster brother named Freddy  (Jack Dylan Grazer)  who was handicapped become friends.  One day when Freddy was bullied in school, Billy in his effort to save him ends up in the secret lair of  a group of wizards  who were almost extinct except one named Shazam (Djimon Hounsou) and he was weak and aging.  He transferred his powers to Billy. All Billy has to do is say the word Shazam and be transformed into an adult superhero (Zachary Levi).
Billy informs Freddy about what happened with the wizard and together they discovered the qualities of Billy's new found power.  They both think that Billy just need to save a few people and become rich and famous. Little did they know that  Dr Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong)  who was previously rejected by the wizard had evil planned for them. When Dr Sivana discovered that the wizard had passed on his powers to someone he began looking for the person.  He found Billy and almost destroyed him and his family but with the help of Shazam's magic and his new foster siblings he defeated Dr Sivana.
   LESSONS FROM SHAZAM
 1) TEAMWORK : No superhero succeeds alone.  Superheroes need a team of trusted individuals who will help them succeed.  Billy thought he could defeat Dr Sivana alone and he couldn't but when he teamed up with his siblings they defeated Dr Sivana.
2)COURAGE: Courage is a very important trait that we all need. If we are not courageous we would miss out on great opportunities in life. If Billy was not courageous enough to confront Dr Sivana he won't have defeated him.
3) IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY:  The importance of family is portrayed in this movie. Billy felt a level of love and care from his foster family that he had never felt before.  He also understood that a real family stands up for one another.

Shazam is DC universe's least serious and most teen friendly movie.  It contains scenes of violence, fighting,  few deaths and scary monsters.  Suggestive humor is used in the two scenes where characters go to sleep strip club.  It was directed by David F Sandburg and was released on April 5th 2019. Lion movie review

Everyone has a family and the family is a very important part of ones life. These days,  we see family as not just people related to us by blood but also friends and people who have a positive impact on our lives. Not everyone we meet improve our lives but if we are lucky enough to come across someone like  that they become like family to us.
Today I want to tell you a true story of a young Indian boy named Saroo (meaning Lion).  He lives with his mother Kamla and his elder brother Guddu and younger sister Shakilah in a tiny village in India.  They were very poor so they did not have enough resources to live on. So his mother worked as a labourer and Saroo and his brother normally go out to look for menial jobs to do in exchange for food or money.
One night after their mother went to work Guddu was about to secure a job in the city and Saroo insisted on following him which he succeeded in doing after much effort.  When they arrived the place,  Saroo was sleepy and tired so Guddu told him to wait in a particular place while he goes and make enquiry about the job. After a while,  Saroo woke up and he was frightened because the city seemed so big to him and he was not used to  city life then he started walking about and he got lost. He couldn't find Guddu and no one could help him get in touch with his mother because he didn't know the name of his village and he couldn't even pronounce his name right.  He said "Sorru" instead of "Saroo"
Finally  he was adopted by an Australian couple and he began a new life with them in Australia. The couple had no kids and they treated him as their own child. Twenty five years later when Saroo got into the university and met other Indian students who talked about their families and hometowns, the need for him to find his real family became more pressing to him. With the help of his friends, he finds his village and his real family.
His mother told him that she never stopped looking for him.  He was very happy to be reunited with his real mother.  When he asked for Guddu  he was told that he was hit by a train and  died while searching for him that same day he got missing. Although Saroo found his real family, he still had a huge place in his heart for his adoptive parents  and he was very grateful to them and claimed that they still remain his parents.  He later brought them to India and introduced them to his mum and sister.
What I'm trying to point out from this story is that, no matter where we may be if we are not home we need someone to fill the place of out family.  Sometimes other people are not enough and we need our family. We should learn to treasure our family, as the saying goes "There is no place like home" there is really no place like home. Saroo learnt this because even with the great life he had in Australia he felt the need to find his real home.

Another thing I want to point out is that Saroo was grateful to the couple that adopted him and he values them.  He did not abandon them when he found his real family. Although family is important friends too are equally important.  It is not good to neglect your family because of a friend neither is it good to neglect a friend because of your family. We should learn to value both family and friends .

Avengers : Endgame

How far are you willing to go for those you love?  What can you sacrifice for those you claim to love? The Avengers :Endgame is the last movie in the marvel cinematic universe's current generation of movies. This movie is about a group of superheros coming together to save the people they love and the world at large.

The movie begins after Thanos wiped out half of Earth's population using the infinity stones. The avengers  (those left behind) were trying to figure out a way to bring back those that were lost. Captain Marvel was confident that with her on their team they will succeed. Their plan was to get the stones back from Thanos and use it to bring everyone that vanished back. The avengers track Thanos but the stones were not found and so they dispersed. Five years later, Ant Man (Paul Rodd) who people thought vanished came back. He was stucked in the quantum realm during the fight in Wakanda during the Infinity War. He insists that by using science and technology they will be able to make a time machine to go back in time to stop Thanos before he even gets the stones.
The avengers team was brought back together but it took time to convince them all but they eventually agreed and they made the time machine. Together they defeat Thanos and save the world but not without loosing   some of their team mates in the process.
LESSONS FROM THE AVENGERS :  ENDGAME
1) COURAGE :  The avengers were courageous. They were not afraid to fight Thanos over and over again.. They knew their worth and they knew that they had to confront him. They  knew that the world was depending on them and they did not want to let people down.

2) PERSEVERANCE  : The avengers never gave up in their fight against Thanos even after their first attempt that failed they did not give up. If they had looked at their failures they would not have been able to fight Thanos again and win.. They persevered and it paid off.

3) TEAM WORK : One of the message that is very clear in this movie is teamwork. The avengers worked together as a team they knew  that they needed each other if they want to defeat Thanos . They worked together despite their differences and past conflicts.

There are a lot of things packed in this 3 hours movie. The Russo Brothers did not fail to surprise the audience .  This movie contains a lot of violence and death  but it also has a few comic relieves. It is more emotional than previous MCU movies . It shows us how different people deal with grief. There is the use of few offensive words in this movie. I suggest that you watch Captain America civil war and Infinity War so you can understand the story line. It was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and it was released on April 26th 2019. It runs for 181 minutes and it is rated PG 13 for scenes of sci-fi violence ,action and some language.

Aquaman

Are you scared of responsibilities?  Do you always shy away from responsibilities?  I think you can learn a few things from Arthur Curry (Aquaman).
Arthur (Jason Momma)  is the son of Queen Atlanna the queen of Atlantis. She met Arthur's father Thomas Curry (Temura Morrison)  when she  ran away from Atlantis because of an arranged marriage. They loved each other so much but she had to return to Atlantis because soldiers from Atlantis were after her and she wanted her son, who was just a toddler at that time and his father to be safe. So Queen Atlanna went back to Atlantis and agreed to the arranged marriage and she gave birth to another son.

Arthur grew up knowing his true identity as the heir to the throne of Atlantis.  He had lots of physical training to enable him claim the throne when the time comes. When the time finally came he kept refusing to go to Atlantis because he was mad that they sacrificed his mother because she gave birth to him and he felt that he would not be welcomed there.  He was alright with his life as a superhero on land known as Aquaman. His half brother Orm(Patrick Wilson)  occupied the throne and was about to start a war with the normal humans on land (which they called surface world). Arthur could not stand back and let the war happen because his Father and the world he knew was in danher so he decided to return to Atlantis and take his rightful position as the king.

WHAT WE CAN LEARN FROM AQUAMAN
 1) Courage : Arthur was courageous and he did not relent even though he was faced with a lot of oppositions when he got to Atlantis.
2)Loyalty: Arthur would not have been able to stop the war his half brother started without help from people who were loyal to him.
3) Perseverance : Although Arthur met with a lot of difficulties he did not give up instead he made himself stronger and he was able to stop the war.
4) Responsibility: Arthur tried to run away from his responsibility as the King of Atlantis and that gave his wicked brother the opportunity to take the position and plot War against innocent people.
Aquaman is the origin story of DC universe half Atlantean superhero. It is full of battle scenes some which are bloody and involves death. It was directed by James Wan and released on December 21 2018. It runs for 143 minutes . It is rated PG for sequences of sci-fi violence, action and some language.
