A couple with a messed up relationship find themselves in a crime scene and are the prime suspects. Can they save themselves eventhough they can not have a decent conversation without arguing?

I STILL BELIEVE

When I watch movies based on true life stories I get amazed at what other people have been through in life. I also feel privileged and honoured because these individuals opened up and shared their experiences with viewers who ca  learn from their stories. I Still Believe is based on the life of gospel singer Jeremy Camp and his first wife Melissa. The events occurred in the early 2000s. It has strong themes of hope, faith and love. 

            The story begins when Jeremy (KJ Apa) goes to college. On his first night on  campus he went for the welcome concert and he meets Melissa( Britt Robertson) and he instantly falls in love with her. They become friends  and Jeremy wanted more  but she did not want that because she did not want to hurt John Luke who had feelings for her and was also Jeremy's musical mentor . Jeremy loves music and he is really talented and John was helping him promote his music career and he also helped Jeremy release a few tracks.  Eventually,  Mellisa agrees to date Jeremy on the condition that they keep it a secret . The relationship was going great and they were having a wonderful time together. Then one night John sees them kissing and Melissa breaks up with Jeremy .

         Christmas comes and Jeremy goes home for the holiday. He is happy to be back home with his family but he misses Melissa. One night he got a call from John that Melissa was rushed to the hospital because she was seriously I'll and he needs to come and see her. Jeremy drives from his town in Indiana to California to see Melissaand he finds out that she has cancer. Despite the illness, Jeremy's love for her did not change instead it grew stronger and he proposed to her.

             Jeremy dropped out of school to take care of Melissa and he continued to play his songs at concerts and appearances on radio  shows.  At every concert or appearance  he always talked about Melissa and asked people to pray for her. At one particular concert at the beginning of Melissa's battle with cancer he asked the crowd to stretch their hands to Melissa and pray for her which they did. Jeremy and Melissa lived each other so much and they had faith that God  will see them through in the battle with cancer.

              Melissa was scheduled for a major operation but during the procedure the doctors did not find any cancerous cells in her body. It was a miracle,  Melissa was healed.  Everyone was happy and grateful to God and Melissa and Jeremy got their dream wedding ceremony and enjoyed their honeymoon.  Not long after the honeymoon,  Melissa got sick again and the doctor told them that the cancer has come back vigorously and has affected many parts of her body including her liver. Despite her illness, Melissa still had faith in God and believed that everything was going according to God's plan . She encouraged Jeremy to be at peace with whatever happened to her and to share her story so that people around the world will  know it. She continued by saying that if one person is touched by her story then her illness will be worth it. Unfortunately,  Melissa died not long after but Jeremy never stopped telling her story at his concerts.

 I Still Believe reminds viewers that in difficult times we can find hope and strength in God. Times of trials help to build us and draw us closer to God they are  ot to destroy us. Thus movie is a faith-based movie and what makes it special among other faith based movies is that it is based on a true life story.  I highly recommend this movie because  I am still blown away by the amount of faith , love and good displayed in this movie. Knowing that such love and faith has existed gives me good that it can still exist in this world.

  Today, Jeremy Camp is happily married to Adrienne who met him at one of his concerts and was affected by his story . They have three kids. The story is heart touching  and emotional you might need a  tissue or handkerchief while watching it.

For The Love of Jesse

In life sometimes tragedy happens and  it is important to stay strong in order to overcome it rather than to be weak and let it defeat you. This movie focuses on overcoming tragic events and finding second chances. It was directed by David McAbee and was released on May 1st 2020. It lasts for 94 minutes and it is not yet rated.

             For the love of Jesse is about Dr Luke Mathews (Randy Wayne) . For him life was good. He has a successful career a wife who he loves so much and happens to be pregnant with their first child. One night when he and his wife Jessica (Bree Blair) were spending time alone before the baby comes she begins hemorrhaging and she was rushed to the hospital.  Unfortunately, the doctors were unable to save Jessica but they delivered his daughter named Jesse. 

             Luke felt the loss of his wife hard and it was difficult for him to get back to his normal life. He neglects himself and his newborn daughter. Luke's mother Catherine (Adrienne Barbeau) helps him from time to time but she wants to go back to her life so she tries to convince Luke to hire a live-in nanny which he refuses to do and he fires anyone she hires. 

When Luke finally started getting his life back together and he resumes worked runs into Sage Smith (Mandahla Rose) his old patient.  Luke is a gynaecologists and Sage was his patient. And as it turns out Sage had a stillbirth the s ame nighybhe lost his wife.

      Unlike Luke, Sage was trying to move on from the loss of her son. Sage had no baby or man in her life  because her boyfriend left her to pursue his music career and she was looking for a  new beginning.  Luke discovered that she has experience in nanny so he hires her to be Jesse's live- in nanny. Catherine did not like her at first and told Luke to fire her but Luke did not because she was great with Jessie. Luke and  Sage live together and formed a relationship but soon  it grew to become more than just a professional relationship.  They had genuine feelings for each other and everyone around them saw it except for them. Catherine did her best to make Luke fire Sage but it didn't work. Finally after a talk with Luke she changed her attitude towards Sage and welcomed her into the family. Eventually Luke and Sage declared their live for each other and have a son together.  

Scoob!!

Growing up I was a fan of Scooby Doo and when I heard about this reboot I was excited. This remake not only introduces the younger generation to this old cartoon it also brings back memories for those who grew up watching Scooby Doo.

             SCOOB! Begins with an origin story and it explained how the group came together and started Mystery Inc. The story starts when young Shaggy (voiced by Iain Armitage) who was a lonely and sad boy runs into a stray puppy who stole a skewer of gyro meat from a local store and is being chased by a police officer. Shaggy then goes to the beach and makes imaginary friends.  Unknowingly to Shaggy the puppy was hiding where he was and the puppy overheard his conversation with his imaginary friends. Moved by the conversation,  the puppy comes out and he and Shaggy start talking.

          The police officer comes after the dog but Shaggy claims the dog as his and when the officer asked for the his full name Shaggy called him Scooby Dooby Doo. From that moment on they become best friends and formed a strong bond of friendship. Then Halloween comes that same year and they meet young Fred, Velma and Daphne and they solved their first mystery together. Immediately, they fall in love with solving mysteries and promise to stick together and solve many more in the future .

        Now a decade has gone by and the crew still solve mysteries together as Mystery Inc. Looking for ways to expand and grow their brand, they meet a potential investor Simon Cowell (Voiced by Simon Cowell himself). Simon tells the group that he will only invest in  them if Shaggy (now voiced by Will Fortel) and Scooby (voiced by Frank Welker) leaves Mystery inc because they make the group weak and vulnerable.

               Feeling hurt and disappointed, Shaggy and Scoob go to a bowling alley where they usually hang out but they were attacked by an evil villain Dick Dastardly (voiced by Jason Isaacs) . Luckily for them they get saved by a superhero named  Blue Falcon(voiced by Mark Wahlberg) and his canine sidekick Dynomutt (voiced by Ken Jeong). Realizing their mistake, the remaining members of Mystery Inc went looking for Shaggy and Scooby and they discover that Dastardly was after Scooby  because he is the last descendant of Alexander the Great's dog Peritas. Dastardly needed Scooby to open the gate to the underworld so that he can get treasures hidden there. It takes joint effort and teamwork  for Mystery Inc,Blue Falcon and his team to save Scooby. 

            SCOOB! Is funny, entertaining  and packed with great messages for the viewers. The first is  it talks about friendship with Shaggy and Scooby. It starts with how they met when they were young and lonely. Then they formed a strong  connection and bond and over they years it grew and matured into something beautiful and great. Although there was a bit of jealousy when Shaggy found out that scooby was an important dog but they managed to overcome it. We get to know that Shaggy felt that he was loosing his best friend that's why he acted the way he did and he realized his mistake and apologized. The second message  in this movie is courage and it is established  through Blue Falcon. The original Blue Falcon is retired and his son Brian has taken over the role but Brian is not as courageous and heroic as his dad. He is like every other human being who runs for protection at the sign of danger and people's expectation of him puts him under pressure. Eventually, he got to know that being a hero does not depend on how strong or brave you are but being a hero is when you are determined to take on something or save people no matter how scared you are. A hero is allowed to be scared or to loose sometimes. (P.S I think this is a very great message for kids)Lastly, Scoob talks about teamwork. Without working together Mystery Inc would not exist or be able to solve any mystery and also scooby would not have been saved. At the end of the movie the team members realized that they were all valuable and unique in their own different ways and that they need each other to succeed.

Bad Education

Bad Education is the story of a real life scandal that happened in the early 2000s. It tells the story of the fraudulent activities of administrators in the Roslyn school district in New York. 

           The story is mainly about the superintendent Frank Tassone (Hugh Jackman). Frank tries his best to keep his school district in good condition and make it the best in the country. Together he and the assistant superintendent Pam (Allison Janney) work to achieve that goal. Everything was going well then Rachel (Geraldine Viswanathan) a junior student and also a reporter in the school's news paper came to Frank and Pam for her article about the proposed construction of a skywalk  I.e a bridge to connect the two ends of Roslyn High school together. Rachel met frank and interviewed him about the project and he advised her to take her report seriously and make her story big. Unknowingly to him, he was causing trouble for himself. 

          Not long after that, Pam's son was caught using the school's credit card to make a lot of personal purchases at a particular shop. This made the shop owner curious and he alerted the school authorities and they discovered that Pam has been using school funds for her personal things. Frank tries to handle the situation and make it die down quickly and as quietly as possible. He persuaded the school board not to involve the police but to ask Pam to pay back all that she has stolen and to retire which she agreed to.

         Somehow, Rachel gets the key from Pam to the basement to check the school files and records for her article. She sees the financial report and some figures and expenses do not seem right in  the report and she was confused. She starts investigating on and finds out that some costs had been inflated and some companies who were hired by the school to do not even exist and some of the adress and phone numbers written down were the personal property of either Frank or Pam.

       It was obvious to Rachel at this point that Frank and Pam had been embezzling school finances for years. Frank finds out about her investigation and he tried to convince her not to publish the story but she goes ahead and publishes the article. After that,  Frank and Pam were arrested. 

             This movie shows that two wrongs do not make a right.  Frank claimed that the first time he used the school fund was a mistake when he used the wrong card at a coffee shop but then nobody said anything about it so he continued.  Assuming he stopped the first time and reimbursed the school,there would have been no issue. Rachel knew the truth and she didn't feel right about hiding it so she published her story which exposed Frank and Pam. If you know something that can save the lives of people please I urge you to speak out and not remain silent. The truth might be bitter but it is better than telling lies or covering up.

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home  is a faith-based romantic movie that has a great message. It talks about faith, integrity and friendship. 

        The story is about Victoria (Natasha Bure) a barista at a coffee shop.  Victoria has no problem getting guys to notice her until Jason (Ben Elliot) moved into her town. The first day Victoria met Jason she tried to use her usual charm on him but it didn't work as Jason did not respond or pay much attention to her.victoria made up her mind to get Jason to fall in love with her no matter what. Victoria discovered that Jason runs a ministry that build houses for families that are less fortunate and as it turns out he was in need if volunteers.

          So Victoria decides to volunteer eventhough she was not a Christian and she does not know anything about constructing a house. She made up her mind to pretend to be a Christian so that she can fit in with the other volunteers and get Jason to like her. As Victoria continued to hang out with the Christians in Jason's ministry she found out that she lived a hollow life with no value or meaning. And she makes up her mind to change her life for better starting with having a real relationship with God. After a lot of mistakes and apologies, Victoria makes new and healthy relationships.

          Overall, this movie does not only talk about how the characters build homes for homeless people but also how one can build a life of authenticity based on the word of God. Victoria pretended to be a Christian to get a guy but she discovered that she did not like her life but she liked the pretend life better. She had not discovered herself before but christianity offerd her a chance of self discovery based on God's word. She also learnt that if you want to build good relationships with true friends you have to be honest and authentic 

Miracle In Cell Number 7

The Turkish drama Yedinci Kogustaki Mucize (Miracle In Cell Number 7) is based on a south korean  movie with the same name . This movie tells the story of love , kindness, hope and friendship.  It mainly talks about love between a father and his daughter.   It is highly emotional and heart warming.
         The story is about a mentally challenged man Memo (Aras Bulut Iynemli) and his daughter Ova (Nisa Sofiya Aksongur). Memo's  mental  illness is unnamed but he is said to be the same age as his 7 year old daughter mentally. Memo and Ova live with Memo's grandmother because she is the only surviving family member they have as Ova's mother died when Ova was still a baby.

             The little family lives a happy and fairly normal life. Memo takes care of his grandmother's sheep and does petty trading once in a while to make money for the family. One day Memo goes to pick Ova from school and she sees "Heidi backpack" in a shop. She likes the backpack and asks her father to get it for her but the money with him is not enough to buy it. Memo assures Ova that he is going to sell candy apples at the children's day parade which was the following day and then buy the backpack for her.
         On getting back to the shop the next day, the bag was being purchased. An high ranking military officer was getting it for his daughter Seda. Memo tries to plead with the man to sell the bag back to him but the man refuses and instead slaps Memo. A few days later while tending to his flock of sheep, Memo runs into Seda and a group of children playing. Seda lures Memo with the backpack and leads him to a cliff. Memo warns her against playing on the cliff because she might fall but Seda refuses and eventually she slips,  hits her head hard and dies. Seda's parents who came looking for he finds her lifeless in Memo's arms. Memo tries to explain what happened but they wouldn't listen to him. He was taken to a room where he was tortured and forced to sign a confession.

            While been driven to prison the following day, Ova and her great grandmother tries to see Memo but were not allowed and Memo shouts to Ova that "the one eyed giant saw it" i.e a giant rock near the cliff that Seda fell from. On getting to the rock, Ova found a young man and he told her that he saw everything that happened and her father was innocent.  Ova was excited and asks the man to wait there while she goes to call her great grandmother but when she gets back the man is not there. Ova determined to find the man goes back there everday having hope that the man will return but he did not return and she never saw him again.
           Memo's cell mates at first did not like him because they taught he was guilty of killing a child but eventually they got to know him better. They believe his verdict is unfair because he is mentally challenged and he dies not act like someone that can kill a child. They decide to help him sneak in Ova into the cell to meet him because he was refused visitors. Ova reunites with her father and is introduced to his cell mates who were charmed by her. Eventually,  the warden found out about Ova's illegal visit and takes her home. Ova inform him about the eye witness in the rock and he agrees to investigate.

       Meanwhile when Ova's great grandmother found out she has gone to see Memo she has a heart attack and dies. Ova's teacher takes care if Ova and with the help of the warden the witness is found  but when they bring him to Seda's father he shoots the witness.  So without a witness the death sentence on Memo still stands. Does Memo gets executed or is there indeed a Miracle in Cell Number 7??

Guava Island

We all have dreams but it is our ability to execute them that matters. In Guava Island , the people of the Island dream  of living a happy and free life. The type of life they lived before capitalism and dictatorship entered the island.

          The story is about Deni (Donald Glover) a local musician lover by all both old and young. Deni wants to make the people happy and  Guava Island a better place but Kofi (Rihanna) his girlfriend and some others dream of leaving the island. The citizens of Guava Island were under dictatorship from the "Red Family" who is headed by Red (Nonso Anozie). Almost everyone on the Island works for red including Deni and Kofi.

       Deni wants to throw a musical festival to lift up the spirits of his people but Red was against it. He warns Deni not to host the festival.  Will Deni listen to him? Or does he go ahead and throw the festival?
            Overall, this movie is about people who are struggling or suffering under a bad government finding joy and happiness within themselves.  Despite the hardship the people of Guava Island face they still feel uplifted when they listen to music .

Extraction

From the producers of Avengers:Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame  comes this action-thriller Extraction.  This movie is based on a graphic novel titled Ciudad by Ande Parks, The Russo brothers e.t.c. It is the story of a rescue mission gone wrong.
    The story is about Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) a mercenary and a former soldier. Tyler was offered the mission of rescuing a kidnap victim by his colleague Nik Khan (Golshifeth Farahani) and he accepted the mission. Tyler was to rescue Ovi Mahajan junior (Rudhraksh Jaiswal) the son of India's biggest drug Lord Ovi Mahajan senior (Panka Tripathi) who was in jail. Ovi jnr was kidnapped and taken to Dhaka by Bangladesh's drug Lord Amir Asif (Priyanshu Painyuli)

         Ovi senior could not afford to pay Tyler so he sent his henchman Saju (Randeep Hooda) to double cross Tyler and collect Ovi jnr from him after the rescue. Saju kills Tyler's entire team mates but Tyler manages to escape with Ovi. Asif was still after Ovi and he calls for the total lockdown of Dhaka.  Since the police officers were corrupt and scared of Asif they carried out the lockdown and barricaded the entry and exit points in Dhaka so Tyler and Ovi were trapped.
         Asif sends a group of youngsters to kill them but they did not succeed Tyler and Ovi are rescued by Gasper (David Harbour). Tyler's old team mate and friend based in Dhaka.  At Gaspers house, Tyler and ovi refresh themselves and rest a little while Gasper goes out. On getting back, Gasper tells Tyler that Ovi jnr has a $10 million bounty on his head and he advices Tyler to kill the boy. Tyler refuses and he and Gasper gets into a fight. Ovi who overheard them comes in picks up Gasper's fallen gun and shoots him.

             Tyler seeing how hard it will be to get Ovi back in India safely calls Saju for help and they decide to team up against the police and Asif's goons. Together they take Ovi jnr to meet the extraction team at the India Bangladesh border but not without facing life threatening attacks from the police and Asif.
             This movie is action filled and very interesting.  But overlooking all the violence and action in this movie it talks about the importance of family.  Tyler was trying to cope with the loss of his son and probably separation from his wife so he immersed himself in violence, fighting and killing . Ovi treasured his son (eventhough Ovi jnr does not think so)  and he was willing to do anything to get him back so he threatened the life of Saju's son that was why Saju tried to steal Ovi jnr from Tyler. He did it to keep his family safe.
