Swiped

In this recent generation, most youngsters are almost always on their mobile devices or laptops. This has reduced the rate of socialization between people. The rate at which we interact has reduced probably because everyone is online and there is an app for almost anything. This comedy shows how young girls are desperate for guys attention and will do anything even agree to a hookup just to get noticed by guys.

Swiped is about James Singer (Kendall Ryan Sanders) who is a smart college freshman. His family members are worried about him because he is shy and always on his phone or computer so he has no friends. When his mom and sister dropped him off for his first semester they encouraged him to socialize with people and make new friends in college. James's roommate turns out to be the most popular student in the department,  Lance Black (Noah Centineo).  Lance is a play boy who just wants girls without any attachment or commitment. His ideal girl will just hookup with him without spending the night, asking for his name or anticipate a second meeting. He and his group of friends thought of an idea to come up with a dating app that will make this possible.
They discovered that James was so good and coding and creating apps so they ask him to make the app offering an opportunity that is difficult for him to say no to which is the chance to study at the Massechusets Institute of Technology (MIT). James creates the app and named it jungle and everyone seemed to like it at first but after a while the guys started taking girls on this app for granted and hurting their feelings and he realized it was a bad idea.He decides to make things right and shut down the apps.  Does he succeed? Watch the movie to find out.

This movie satirises lustful makes who just want to use girls and also ladies who fall for them because they do not know their value and self worth. There is no form of sexual activity in the movie but it appears to be on the mind of almost everyone. Pictures of ladies in their underwear are shown and uploaded online. Foul languages and some swearing occur in few scenes. A character commits briefly while another one farts loudly. Adults drink in several scenes as well as college age individuals.

In my opinion,  the movie succeed in passing its message of self value, self love , the importance of a good relationship and the dangers of rushing into a romantic relationship  . I recommend this movie to young adults especially the females. It was released on November 6,2018 and it runs for 93 minutes.  It was directed by Ann Deborah Fishman and it is not rated.

Otherhood

Parents try to bring up their children in the best way they can. They shower them with love and try their best to make them love a comfortable and happy life. But sometimes when children grow up and become independent, parents are often neglected which make them feel as if they failed as parents. Otherhood is a story of three friends Helen (Felicity Huffman), Gillian (Patricia Arquette) and Carol (Angela Basset) who felt abandoned by their grown up sons.
Helen, Carol and Gillian have been friends for long. They met when their sons were still very young and as their children became friends, they also formed a strong bond of friendship with each other.

The movie begins in a town called Poughkeepsie when the three women gather together for the celebration of mother's day which they spend together every year. They find comfort in each other because their sons have moved to New York city and hardly gets in touch with them. Their sons forget mothers day every year so the women spend it together but this year, the mothers get drunk and make a spontaneous decision to travel down to New York city to spend some time with their sons. The journey leads to the three women discovering new things about themselves and about their children.

This movie according to www.rottentomatoes.com is a "soulful, hilarious, and honest exploration of life after motherhood". It is based on a novel  called whatever makes you happy  by William Sutcliffe. This movie talks about issues like middle-age anxiety,  parent-adult children  and Infedility. Expect few offensive languages in this movie.  There is a scene of a man and a  woman kissing and trying to undress but they are stopped in a funny way but the man's backside was shown briefly and he found out that the lady was underage. A gay relationship is shown. Characters drink alcohol which leads to arguments, drunkenness and intoxication.

Overall, the message this movie is trying to portray is life after parenthood. As children mature and grow parents needs to change their life and live for themselves. The three mothers realized that their sons were adults and that they had to redefine their relationships with their sons, their spouses, their friends and most especially themselves. The otherhood was directed by Cindy Chupack. Written by Mark Andrus and Cundy Chupack. It was released on August 2nd, 2019 and it runs for 120 minutes. It is rated R for language, sexual references and brief nudity.
